Temporary Halt To Bell Ringing

28/11/2025
We are so sorry but due to the massive repair work being undertaken on our church roof, we currently have no access to our bell tower.

This means it is not possible for our bells to be rung until the weather permits the bell tower roof to be replaced, which could take some time. Our wonderful and faithful team of bell ringers are very frustrated!

Due to the £160,000 repairs to our leaking roof, especially in the areas of our bell tower and organ loft, the tower access is covered in scaffolding!!
The money has been raised by a very generous legacy from the late and very dear Canon Gordon Ruming, plus successful matched funding applications: hours and hours of filling in forms by Rhona Prichard, one of our church wardens, and some of our fund raising events.

Because of work on the choir vestry roof, our sound system has had to be disconnected temporarily for safe storage, hence no live screening for the moment while the sound system is removed for safety’s sake as it risks being damaged by debris falling from the ceiling.

We apologise profusely for the disruption but, whilst great progress is being made, we cannot predict the weather!

Thank you to all who have made these repairs possible.  Raising funds to keep this ancient and sacred building watertight is no easy task!
